MinePro co-operation aims to ensure availability of skilled workforce for Keliber
Keliber Technology Oy and The Federation of Education in Central Ostrobothnia, Kpedu, have agreed on co-operation to ensure the availability of a skilled workforce in the coming years when Keliber’s lithium project reaches the production phase.
The goal of the MinePro co-operation agreement is to develop regional education opportunities in process and chemical engineering in order to meet the future needs of the battery cluster and the mining industry. The agreement will intensify cooperation between companies and educational organizations in the region and increase awareness of the growing industry.
"It is great to see Kpedu’s and Centria's active approach to developing education in the field and promoting the Finnish battery cluster. With Keliber’s successful financing arrangements, we can now offer positions for specialists needed for the investment. Later, in 2023 and 2024, our goal is to employ personnel for production, and it is this need that the MinePro project responds to,” says Hannu Hautala, CEO of Keliber.
The project, implemented in cooperation with Kpedu and Centria, is funded by the European Social Fund, ELY Centre for Central Finland.
When in production from 2024 on, Keliber is expected to employ 150–200 people for various positions, and up to 500 people during the construction phase in 2022–2024. In 2021, Keliber plans to recruit approximately 15–20 people to prepare for the construction phase.
