The spodumene pegmatite of Leviäkangas is located in Kaustinen, about 55 km south-east of Kokkola.
Suomen Mineraali Oy explored the pegmatites of Leviäkangas (previously known as Vintturi) in the 1960s. In the 1980s, exploration was continued by Paraisten Kalkki Oy. In the 2000s, the Geological Survey of Finland explored the area using boulder mapping, geophysics and drilling.
According to the findings of the Geological Survey, the thickness of the Leviäkangas spodumene pegmatite vein varies between 1 and 20 metres over its estimated length of 500 metres.
Keliber Oy has continued exploring the Leviäkangas area with drillings in 2012–2014.
The ore reserve estimates have been prepared according to the guidelines of the JORC Code 2012 by Pöyry Finland Oy by competent persons under the supervision of Ville-Matti Seppä MSc (Geology), EurGeol acting as the qualified person.
